Community Happenings at St. James
We believe that learning about faith and spirituality should be an enjoyable and enriching experience. That's why we are thrilled to offer a wide array of fun classes that cater to all ages and interests.
Come and join us in these exciting classes as we embark on a journey of spiritual growth and joyful discovery together!
Centering Prayer
Are you looking for a way to deepen your relationship with God? Centering Prayer developed by Father Thomas Keating begins with silence. Sitting in silence with God-Divine Presence, we open our mind, heart and whole being to the Ultimate Mystery - beyond thoughts, words, and emotions.
We gather every Saturday at 9 am (summer time we start at 8:30am) online via Zoom. We sit for 20 minutes in meditative silence, then we listen to a reading to contemplate, sharing any thoughts or reflections from the reading. Within this hour of time together we sit, listen, learn in a safe and loving space as we journey on our spiritual path with God.
Group Active
Tuesday and Thursday 9:30 to 10:45 AM.
Group active is an exercise class led by Denice Elison. The class aims to give you a full rounded exercise experience all choreographed to music. The class begins with a 20 minute aerobic workout followed by exercises for legs, back, arms and chest using weights. The class ends with an abs routine, balance and stretch.
This class is not only about exercise but socialization as well. Most months we meet for a birthday luncheon and have an annual Christmas party. We have been meeting for over ten years and developed many close friendships. Come join our group!
Suggested Cost: $2 per class. All fees collected are donated to the church. (Bring your own mat and weights. These props can be made available if you do not have them.)
